Get a Free Web Host

December 28th, 2009

Havenʼt you ever wanted to get your own blog or web page, but remained passive because of its costs? We at AppleLunch are happy to tell you how to get free web hosting, so you can easily start writing your own blog, and publish it. We have established a partnership with Doteasy, who we want to tell you about.

Doteasy has existed since 2000. In the same year they introduced a free web hosting plan as one of the very first, without any hidden charges, gimmicks, and without annoying banner ads. Today, Doteasy is still a premier web host, and trusted by more than 160,000 customers.

When you become a Doteasy web hosting member, you can take advantage of following tools and applications:

  • forum
  • website creator
  • guestbook
  • e-mail form
  • hit counter
  • web poll
  • mailing list
  • FAQ
  • tell-a-friend
  • web directory

Together with the completely free hosting service, you can choose to make use of their current promotion, which allow you to register .COM/.NET/.ORG for only USD 4.95. All you have to do is go to Doteasy.com, choose an unused domain and then just follow the instructions. To claim your discount, enter the coupon code 0910FWH when signing up.

Now you have a domain registered and we consider that you also want content. To create content, you can use e.g. iWeb which is a part of the iLife package, and soon you can read a guide to make your own web site, using iWeb, here at AppleLunch. Until then, you can use Doteasyʼs free website builder to create content to your web site.

AppleLunch WordPress plugin available!

September 5th, 2009

We are working hard to get our news, rumors and reviews out to as many people as possible, which is also the reason that we recently made an iPhone version of AppleLunch.com, and now we are proud to announce yet another service which might help blog owners to automatically show recent news, rumors and reviews for Apple.

The new service is a WordPress plugin, which enables a highly configurable widget in the sidebar of your blog, showing a specified number of items from our RSS feeds. You can even choose if you only wish to receive reviews or news & rumors. It’s all up to you. If you want a sample, just look to the right, because we are actually using that very same plugin on AppleLunch.

Go to the new WordPress plugin here.

September 3rd, 2009

Here at AppleLunch we endeavor to make our readers and visitors satisfied so they’ll come back the next day while they eat their lunch. If they do not eat their lunch while reading this site, it’s allright with us. We can’t really do anything about it :-) .

We’re still in the early beginning of this site, so you’ll probably see a lot of new initiatives in the coming weeks and today we are going to introduce something new. Every Thursday, we’ll give you reviews on at least two free apps for iPhone and iPod Touch to separate the wheat from the chaff, starting today.

AppleLunch will give you a review of Snow Leopard

August 26th, 2009

snowleopardboxOn Friday, August 28th, one of us was promised Mac OS 10.6 delivered to the door. That means you can read detailed reviews about Mac OS X Snow Leopard which we will provide throughout the upcoming weekend and during the next week.

While we wait for Mac OS X Snow Leopard to arrive, why don’t take a look at what we can expect? Here is a list of some features we already know about Mac OS X Snow Leopard:

  • It’s faster and more reliable than any other Mac OS’ (and probably any other OS’ as well)
  • It has a new look and new features for Exposé and Stacks
  • It’s 2x faster to wake up and 1.8x faster to shut down than the older Leopard
  • It gives you about 7GB more disk space than Leopard
  • It has the new Quick Time X implemented which e.g. allows you to upload easily edited videos to YouTube and MobileMe
  • It has a more reliable and higher-resolution iChat
  • It makes sure that you always have the most up-to-date drivers for your printer
  • Time Machine back ups is about 80% faster, and of boy are we looking forward to that!
  • It is more secure than any other Operating System
  • It has Microsoft Exchange Server support
  • It can connect to PC’s over a network
  • It has an advanced screen reading built-in for those who are blind or too lazy to read things themselves
  • It takes full advantage of multi-core processors using Grand Central Dispatch
  • Built-in applications are now 64-bit technology which makes your Mac faster than ever
  • It also makes good use of the graphic processors using OpenCL technology

This list is not complete at all, but it’s a quick snap of what we can expect to see in just a few days.

Welcome to AppleLunch!

August 25th, 2009

Hello blog world, and welcome to our new blog.

And here we are! Ready for some great Apple stories, Microsoft parodies (if an Apple “Mac vs. PC” doesn’t do the job for us) and some Apple-fanatic talk, all provided by the two editors maintaining the blog, so if you really don’t have time to read our posts, then consider reading about us instead. We tend to be some pretty interesting fellows… at least now that we are preparing to catch and study the mighty Snow Leopard being released this week!

We are looking forward to working on this blog, and hope you guys will enjoying visiting it to read about the iPhone, the Mac product line, the Apple TV or even about the Apple CEO Steve Jobs or any other event, character or product worth mentioning.

So that’s it for now… enjoy your lunch!
